The Book Club
We take turns hosting the meeting in our homes or meet at a local cafe. We try to read a variety of genres from international authors. All members are encouraged to make book suggestions and the book reading list for the year is typically determined during the first meeting each Club year.
Cooking Club
We gather once a month at a member's house. The host chooses the menu and purchases all the main ingredients while attendees take part in the preparation of the meal and share the cost of ingredients purchased (~$10.00 per person). We then sit down and enjoy the collectively cooked meal.
Coffee & Breakfast Club
If you would like a good talk, a new friend, a warm cup of coffee and some goodies, you certainly are invited to our coffee gatherings. In the past we've met at Chez Cora in Kirkland for a delicious breakfast! This group typically meets once per month.
International Dining
Meet, drink and dine with new friends while experiencing different cuisines from around the world. Sometimes this group meets for a shared meal at a member's home and sometimes we make reservations at restaurants on the West Island or downtown Montreal. Spouses and guests are welcomed a some of the eating adventures as well.
The Movie Club
Everyone loves a good movie! And, if you have some BNC friends to join you, it’s even better!! We pick a movie each month and meet at the Kirkland Colisee, typically on a Tuesday for an early evening showing.
Theatre Group
This group keeps a close watch on the theatre offerings in and around Montreal and schedules outings when a show peaks their interest. In the past we have traveled west to the Hudson Village Theatre and east to the Centaur Theatre in Old Montreal. Sometimes, if schedules allow, we have grabbed a quick dinner prior to the show. Put your name on the Theatre Club list. We’d love to have you join us!
Wine Tasting
The idea of this group is to get together a few times throughout the year to taste wines from different countries of the world. Spouses and partners are usually included as well. Some events have featured a guest sommelier and others have been hosted by a member who just enjoys good wine and good company.
The Arts & Crafts Group
Join us for painting, jewelry making, knitting or whatever other fun craft ideas we decide to tackle. Everybody is welcome from novice to expert. For some months we decide on a new craft for everyone to try while other months we simply bring our own projects. This group also enjoys inviting guest crafters to showcase new arts and crafts. Snacking and tea/coffee is usually a part of the event as well so bring your appetite and your creativity for a relaxing and inspiring time with friends.
Experience Montreal
We will explore a different neighborhood of Montreal each time and then have brunch or lunch in a simple little neighborhood restaurant. Examples are the Atwater Market and the entire area of Little Burgundy, Griffintown and Saint-Henri and the Lachine Canal with brunch at “Toi et moi” or at the market, the Plateau area with the best poutine restaurant in Canada, the Old Port and Marché Bonsecours, Côte-des-Neiges and Outremont with either a little Greek or Vietnamese restaurant, Jean-Talon Market, Chinatown, Little Italy with the best cannoli (Sicilian dessert) and cappuccino in the city, etc. The possibilities are endless.
Walking Club
What can be a better way to kick off the weekend than a walk along the beautiful Lac St. Louis and a coffee and chat afterwards with friends? It is as much about getting some great exercise as it is about catching up with good friends. We will meet every Friday morning at 9:30am. Everyone is welcome – including our friendly four-legged friends. And, YES, we continue walking during the winter months so be sure to have a good pair of crampons ready!
Mahjong Club
We love our Mahjong! This active group typically meets once a week to play Chinese-style Mahjong and share tasty treats and tea/coffee. If you want to develop your skills in techniques, observation, memory and adaptive strategies, join us to learn how to play Mahjong. It is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!
Photography Club
This group is for photography enthusiasts as well as complete photography novices. We will get together in different locations around Montreal and the surrounding area to take pictures, share different techniques and tips for improving our photography, and mainly just enjoying our time together!.
