Join a Group
Aside from our monthly meetings we have different activities happening within our sub groups. With our diverse membership profile, you are sure to find a group offering something that will interest you - probably more than one! This is how our club grows and serves the changing needs and interests of our members so don't be shy, join in the fun!
*Please note you can attend a sub-group activity before officially joining the Beaconsfield Newcomers Club. However, please attend one monthly meeting first so you can connect with the sub-group convenors in person.
Some of the subgroups are currently on pause, because of the restrictions imposed in light of the pandemic.

The Book Club

We take turns to host the meeting or decide on a cafe to meet in. We try to read a variety of genres from international authors. All members are encouraged to make suggestions with the final decision to be made each month by the convenor.
Cooking Club

We gather once a month at one of the members' house. The host will choose the menu and purchase all the main ingredients, members take part in the preparation of the meal and share the cost of ingredients purchased (~$10.00 per person). We will sit down and enjoy the collectively cooked meal.
Coffee Club

If you would like a good talk, a new friend, a warm cup of coffee and some goodies, you certainly are invited to our coffee reunions. In the past we've met at Chez Cora in Kirkland for a delicious breakfast! We meet once a month typically on the first Monday.
International Dining

Meet, drink and dine with new people and get to taste different cuisines from around the world. We meet once a month and the hostess opens the house for us and she decides the cuisines, country and if she wants any party theme. All the guests are asked to bring one dish each and their favorite drink to share with everyone. I can assure you that it is going to be a fun evening. Spouses are invited in International dining. So ladies buckle up and join us on this International Cuisine flight.
The Movie Club

I don’t know about you, but one of my favourite things is to go to the theatre to see a film on the big screen! And if you have some BNC friends to join you, it’s even better!! We pick a movie each month and meet by the escalators at the Kirkland Colisee. Usually it is on a cheap Tuesday night, but I am open to other nights as well. Afterwards we go to the nearby Tim Hortons for a cup of coffee and a chat. It’s a wonderful night out! It is worth signing up for the emails even if you’re not sure you can escape for the evening!
Theatre Club

The plan is to see about 3 shows through the year. I usually “wing it”, waiting for shows to be announced. In the past we have traveled west to the Hudson Village Theatre and east to the Centaur Theatre in Old Montreal. Sometimes, if schedules allow, we have grabbed a quick dinner prior to the show. Put your name on the Theatre Club list. We’d love to have you join us!
Wine Tasting

The idea of this group is to get together a few times through the year to taste wines from different countries of the world. The gentlemen of our lives would also be invited to these evenings. Each taster would pay a certain amount. Join this club and learn a little bit about wine and a little bit about your fellow members.
Craft Club

Join us for a scrap booking, jewelry making, knitting or whatever other fun craft ideas we decide to tackle. Everybody is welcome from novice to expert. We each work on our own projects while helping to inspire others on their projects. Everyone brings their our own supplies generally, but if you would like to give it a go before investing, come and try it out.
Experience Montreal

We will explore a different neighborhood of Montreal each time and then have brunch or lunch in a simple little neighborhood restaurant. Examples are the Atwater Market and the entire area of Little Burgundy, Griffintown and Saint-Henri and the Lachine Canal with brunch at “Toi et moi” or at the market, the Plateau area with the best poutine restaurant in Canada, the Old Port and Marché Bonsecours, Côte-des-Neiges and Outremont with either a little Greek or Vietnamese restaurant, Jean-Talon Market, Chinatown, Little Italy with the best cannoli (Sicilian dessert) and cappuccino in the city, etc. The possibilities are endless.
Walking Club

What can be a better way to kick off the weekend than a walk along the beautiful Lac St. Louis and a coffee and chat afterwards with friends? It is as much about getting some great exercise as it is about catching up with good friends. We will meet every Friday morning at 9:30am. Everyone is welcome – we love to meet new people!
Spanish Conversation Club

The Spanish language is one of the most spoken and diverse in the world. What makes it popular is that it is spoken in more than 20 countries as the official language, and its diversity is derived from the expressions and words of each of these countries. Let's discover it together while we chat casually!
Mahjong Club

If you want to develop your skills in techniques, observation, memory and adaptive strategies, join us to learn how to play Mahjong and share a nice evening.

Photography Club
For Lovers of photography. We will get together in different locations to take pictures together. We will learn different techniques on how to improve the photos we take.

Travel Club

The idea is to meet once a month or so at someone’s house, have a potluck lunch, or coffee and cake, while one or two members tell us about a recent trip they have taken. The purpose is to give people ideas for future trips to new and exciting destinations or alternative travel destinations. If they want more information, they can talk to the person who gave the presentation.

Gardening Club
Let's get together and talk about all things gardening! We like to take turns meeting in each other's homes to share tips and tricks for growing all types of plants, flowers and vegetables. We may also join local garden tours as they occur in the spring months!

Board Games Club
This group meets once a month for an evening of fun and board games. You can come and enjoy the available games, or bring one you'd like to share with the group - we'll decide what to play depending on size of the group and interest. So long as we all have fun, then everyone is a winner on games' nights. We look forward to seeing you there!

Evening Reading Club
A working gal's twist on the traditional book group, the evening reading group is perfect for ladies with limited reading time and a penchant for great discussions. We discuss a fresh topic each month (not a book), often centering on personal development (but we're open to other ideas). A suggested reading list of 3-5 online articles is provided, to give everyone baseline knowledge on the topic (roughly 20 minutes of reading). With that, we're ready to meet, discuss, exchange ideas, and most importantly, have fun! If you're someone who loves smart, in-depth conversations with friends where you exchange ideas, expand your horizons and learn new things, this is the group for you.
